What To Expect


Your First Visit


During your first visit, you will meet with Dr. Emily to review your overall health, discuss your main complaint(s) and health goals, answer your questions, and received a customized treatment plan that will typically include recommendations for acupuncture, herbs, supplements, lab testing, and diet & lifestyle modifications.  


Frequency of Treatment 


For most health issues, a series of weekly visits is typically recommended, followed by a transition to bi-weekly or monthly treatments as needed. 


If, however, your condition is particularly painful, chronic or severe, 2-5 treatments per week for a few weeks to a few months is recommended, until your condition becomes less severe and more manageable. Regardless of severity, most people notice improvements immediately, during their first or second treatment, with continued improvement over subsequent treatments.


Duration of Treatment


The total number of treatments needed will depend on your condition, your health goals, your overall health and constitution, and how well you respond.


Most people experience significant and lasting improvement of acute conditions (ones that just began in the last few months) within 1-2 months of weekly treatments, with chronic but moderate (not severe) conditions typically needing 3-6 months of weekly treatments, and severe, chronic conditions typically requiring 6-24 months of weekly treatments. And for those looking for overall health maintenance and optimization, ongoing weekly or bi-weekly acupuncture treatments are highly beneficial and appropriate.
